- USE ALL OF THE LINKS - Pet insurance premiums can fluctuate greatly, so to make sure you're getting the best deal for your best friend, get quotes from all the companies listed. OK, so it might take a while but you're here to save money aren't you?
- COVER - Vet bills aren't cheap, and can run into hundreds of pounds very quickly. Decide whether you're happy with cover just for the year or whether you need cover for the full length of any illness. Cover for the annual period only will be the cheapest option - but is that adequate?
- EXCESS - Like car insurance, pet insurance policies come with an excess (your contribution to the cost of any claim). You can purchase an Excess Protection policy which will enable you to recover any excess that you are liable for.
- PET AGE - Most insurers will only insure your pet before he/she gets to a certain age (often 8 years old). You will get a lower premium the younger your pet is, so buy cover sooner rather than later.
